1 Graham vs. 4 Moss Quizzers

Quizzing is going to be different for me this year as I will be involved from a different perspective. This year I will be a coach. Being a quizzer from the past, I hope it will help make me a good coach. As I try to envision how I could be influential to my quizzers, I think of those in quizzing who influenced me. Naturally I thought of my coaches, and I could write pages on how they influenced me. But who else have influenced me? Well, a lot of quizzers have. And not just merely being on my team or being a tough opponent. These quizzers were my friends, who showed me how to quiz, who gave pointers and advice, and who pushed me to compete my hardest. Quite few have done this, but I would like to highlight a certain family that lead this group. The Moss family was there in the beginning, with Jake & Josh (and even Mrs. Diane Moss helping coaching) to Tim, entering during my second year and exiting during my last year. And even in the middle, when there wasn’t any Moss on my team, they were always present somewhere in quizzing. And I’ll never forget them.

Now while each has been on my team, each of them has been on another team for another church during my quizzer career as well. Because this was caused by a team split, strong feelings and sharp competition rose between us. I had this want, almost need, to beat them, to show that I was better than them. When tension dropped and friendships were restored, the need to beat them was gone, but the want was there. It was for different reasons now. I saw it more as a “final test,” if I could demonstrate that all I learned from them I have put to use. For the “student” to beat the “teacher/master” was a way of “graduating.” And by the end, I did graduate. Let me tell you.

Graham vs. Josh Moss
Josh and I were on the same for my first three years of quizzing (2002-2004), and then finished his last year with Zion the year after. Josh and I were pretty close those years, possibly because he was closer to my age and grade than Jake was. I credit my obsession with situation questions to Josh. Before I quizzed for Ark, Ark’s go-to-guy for situation questions was Josh. When I came on the scene, Josh entrusted me with the situation. I didn’t let him down. When my first points and first buzz in was a situation question, I have to credit Josh with helping me get my first points and first buzz in. Josh to me was always the fun-loving easy-going guy. If there was craziness, he was involved in it somehow. Josh had a successful quizzing year, finishing his last 4 years on the Top 50 Quizzers List, being in the top 10 from 2002 to 2003.

On February 13, 2005, Spring City quizzed against Zion, allowing the two of us to quiz aginst each other, head-to-head. It seemed like a good match-up. Both of us were in the Top 20 at the time. Our teams were pretty well matched up, too. Both had 2 Top 50 Quizzers and 2 previous Ark quizzers. Both of us sat in seat 3, so we were across from each other. I would get his bonus questions, and he would get mine. Josh got one right, but then got 2 errors and was pulled out. I proceeded to quiz out, one of the right answers was a bonus from Josh. As for my team Spring City, Brandon and Mike quizzed out, and we also got team bonus. As for Josh’s team Zion, the other top 50 Quizzer errored out with zero points. The final score was Spring City – 135, Zion – 20. I quizzed out, and Josh didn’t. From then, feelings were repaired.
Graham wins match-up, 1-0 quizouts.

Graham vs. Becky Moss
I never quizzed along side Becky. Her rookie year was in 2005 with Reading, and I was already on Spring City. Yet I feel like she is worthy of being mentioned because she is a Moss who quizzed the same time I did. Because Abby didn’t quiz, she was the last of the Moss family to quiz. Becky would be famous for the 2006 haircut, where she was constantly mistaken for an emo boy. I think the line was drawn when girls were fliriting with here because they thought she was a hot emo boy.

On February 5, 2006, I faced Becky in the Spring City vs. Reading 2, allowing us to face each other in a match, although we were not sitting across from each other. It was a big mismatch. I ranked 29th, and Becky was 124th. I had 125 points; she had 60 points. I opened the match by buzzing in and answering the first two questions correctly. I was aiming to quiz out by question 3, but on question 3 Becky beat me in. She errored on that question. I was able to get my quiz out by question 5. After that, Becky would get her second error and get benched. As for our teams, Becky’s Reading 2 had new highlights, but Spring City also had Mike and Jai quiz out. Spring City won, 105-35.
Graham wins match-up, 1-0 quizouts.

Graham vs. Jake Moss
The first memory of Jake was Jake showing me the quizbook and how he marked up his quizbook and giving me tips on how to mark up mine. I don’t exactly remember his system, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was something similiar. I always learned from Jake by watching him quiz, and he might have learned a little bit from me. For example, when we were quizzing on Exodus, he would always buzz in on the situation question early and answer “the Lord to Moses” because he saw me do it and got it right. Jake was also a good quizzer, and it wasn’t from mere guessing. Jake was one of the top 10 quizzers from 2002 to 2004, peaking in 2004 with a 3rd place, and earning in a spot in the fun match as an all-star quizzer. Jake would wrap up his quizzing career with Reading. He would place somewhere between 100-120th those last 2 years, but that was because Jake took more of coaching role for his team. And in my personal opinion, I think Jake would be one of the top 3 tallest quizzers that I know 🙂

On March 12, 2006, I quizzed against Jake as Spring City took on Jake’s team (what Christine always called it by) Reading 1. I started, but Jake did not enter the quizmatch until one of his quizzers quizzed out, naturally taking the coach’s role. still, there was a point where both Jake and I were in the match at the same time. Even with Jake coming in late, he got one right and one error, putting up the best fight compared to his previous siblings. Still, it was no match compared to me, as I quizzed out with only one error.
Graham wins match-up, 1-0 quizouts.

Graham vs. Tim Moss
I knew Tim from my rookie year of quizzing, even though Tim wasn’t old enough to quiz. He was many times a fan, even coming to Ohio with the team to root for us. Tim’s rookie year was on my second year, and we were both on a team of 7. I remember Tim getting sick on the first week of that season and not making it to his first quizmeet. He only scored about 20 points that year, but could name the list of 13, the biggest list there was. We wouldn’t be on the same team for another 4 years, as Tim quizzed for the other Ark team, and then quizzed for Reading after the split. There was a lot of hurt in that split, as Tim got more competitive as he got bettter. We would constantly butt heads because we were so closely matched up. On top of that, Tim was out to get a trophy. He would always trying to stack quizzers into a “super team” coached by himself. Tim tried selling his dream team to many churches but no church would take it. It made me laugh, thinking, “Finally the little punk is getting what he deserves.” But when I heard now that he himself could not find any team, I pitied Tim because I hated to see good quizzing talent go to waste. So when Timasked the Deitricks to be on Spring City, Mike and I made sure we put in a good word for Tim. When Tim joined Spring City, it was a true reunion between him and me. Our relationship was reconciled and restored. It went from hard feelings to blessings. We went from fierce rivalry to friendly competition. And that helped as teammates.

Tim and I never quizzed against each other when we were on different teams, so the competition was all in the stats and the standings. It’s hard to compare you both of you have different schedules, but being on the same team and having the similar schedules, it’s now easier to compare. Tim and I had a way of encouraging each other that some might consider odd. We encouraged each other by being competitive. We encouraged each other by trying to beat each other. While Tim was now on my team, I still wanted to do better than him. So in the 3 years we quizzed together, I kept track of our quizouts. Every season I would try to quiz out more than he did. And altogether, I wanted to have more overall quizouts than he did in our last 3 years together. This wasn’t an easy task. Tim finished all 3 of those years in the top 50 Quizzers List: 35th, 29th, and 39th. That is almost expectant because Tim was a Top 50 Quizzer 4 times in his career and one of the top 100 quizzers 6 times in his career. But his placing were no match for my 16th, 8th, and 4th.
Graham wins match-up, 46-40 quizouts (over 3 years on the same team).

So after 8 years of quizzing, I beat Jake, Josh, Tim and Becky Moss. I wish I could build a time machine and take on Debbie Moss, because I heard she was a great quizzer as well. By defeating these 4 Moss quizzers, I have shown that the student has mastered the teacher, and now the student is mastering being the teacher. This will be helpful as a coach, but I hope it’s not too late, because these guys were influential to me as older quizzers to a younger quizzer. I hope that I was this mentor to the younger quizzers on my team when I was quizzer myself.

My Spring City home dawgs

Last Sunday, 8 days ago, was what I call the “Quizzing banquet.” I call it that because when sports team finish their year they have a sports banquet honoring the team’s accomplishments, as well as some individual’s accomplishments. Pretty much, this is what is done at the end of the year for the quizzers. The quiz team as a whole is mentioned on how they did, then each quizzer is brought up individually to talk about how they did for the team, and finally who the secret sponser was for that person. Dave and Vicki also gave us the chance to be able to say something. All my fellow quizmates got up and said something about the team and their teammates. I got up and said something about our great coaches, at which time I presented our gift to them, a quizbook signed by the whole team. I really wanted to focus that time on our quiz coaches because they did an awesome job coaching us in some many ways. But don’t get me wrong, we a great team, full of wonderful individuals. So at this time, as I do yearly, I would like to recognize my quizzing teammates for the accomplishments and what they have done for this team. And as I do every year, I am not going to tag a name onto the desciption. Just in case I might say something that person might find embarrassing. But you can feel free to guess who it is. I accidently might leave hints ;).

for the past 3 years, i have noticed that there is someone on the team who brings a fun, exciting and encouraging Atmosphere to the the team. i also realized that for these Last 3 years it happens to be the Youngest quizzer on the team who finishes with the Smallest Score. first it was bekah, then it was bryan, and now it’s you. you were the youngest on the team, but it didn’t stop you from joining the big boys in their fun. you were the only one willing to be pushed by mike on the hand cart. you almost took out the deitricks television playing wii boxing. there Are a lot of funny memories you gave this Team. yeah, you scored the lowest of all year, but i swear that had to be the holy spirit. you buzzed in on “on what was jesus…”! first of all, you had some crazy buzzes this year, enough of them to make us older quizzers proud. second of all, nobody knew the answer at the point! that’s why i’m sure that the holy spirit gave you that answer. it was random, but right! pretty amazing you’re first one Right was not a bonus, but a buzz-in. you made practice and matches fun, Even when we weren’t doing too good. your Estatic personality can be uplifting in down times, a strong need for a quizteam. so i hope to see you next year so you can answer more questions right in real Matches. if U don’t, i’ll keep calling u by your right-answer nickname Longer than you may Like. In god’s Name, i pray that he will make you a leader to your peers and church as paul told timothy to be. (Alyssa “Tree” Mullin)

Boy, you are like a sponge. On the first practice of the year, as dave was explaining the Basics of quizzing, like the rules and how scoring works, i could tell you were getting this down. you learned fast. not many rookies can get a Buzz-in correctly on the first week, but You did it! and it got us team bonus in the process, another thing few rookies experience the first week. after christine left, you were just what the DR. ordered for this team. you were a strong 4th seat. you got us team Bonus a few times, and one time you even quizzed Out! after that quizout, since you were quizout number 4, was amazing getting to see you lay Back up there with nothing to do! your triple-digit score of 105 points got u into the top 200, 2 accomplishments that are rare to rookies. i have 2 favorite memories of you getting right answers. the first one is when we were at weaverland. we were doing poorly, and we needed a jumpstart in the next match. on the first question you buzzed in on “whose clutches…” to answer Herod and got it right! It suprised us all and encouraged the older guys to get their butt in gear. Another favorite of mine was that match against petra 3 in the acc tournament. we had tied it Up twice as were in Sudden-death overtime question. the older quizzers Were feeling powerless As the team’s fate was in the hands of 2 rookies and a 2nd year quizzer. Last question we would ever have that match. you buzzed in, answered “some bad characters formed a mob” and got it right! without that, we wouldn’t be able to have been undefeated in the acc tournament. but we had a lot of fun in practice too. you came up with some creative answers, but they were a little more intellegable than some other person we know. it was funny hearing you say “a geographic location” instead of giving a proper place or saying “small particles of matter” instead of Dust. still, you learned it, and we learned from you. i can truly see a younger self in me. i’m glad you felt like part of a team. we were glad to have you on the team. you are truly one of the spring city boiz. you joined in on our schnanigans, and it showed…literally (i don’t care what jen says, you look good with it shaved!) can’t wait to see you back on the team next year cuz i think you would make a really solid 4th seat next year. solid! as dave told us many time, i will also tell you. it’s great that you have that knowledge in your head, but you got to put that into your heart. you know many things about interpreting the scriptures, but it’s no good if in the end you don’t apply it. apply it, and you will gain wisdom. (Bobby “Dr. Bob” Hauswald)

after you had an incredible first year, i was glad to that you Chose to try quizzing again for a second year, even as early as april! now from what i collected at the quizzing banquet, you were a little disappointed at How you did this year. trust me, i know Exactly how you feel. i also started my second year after have a strong finish to my rookie year, getting a buzz in right pretty much every match. i too expected me to do so much better the next year, even reaching the top 50 quizzer List. So i too was disappointed when i didn’t even reach the top 150! you Expect A lot from yourself, but really it’s almost too much. if you look at it statistically, you didn’t do worse, you did the Exact same. instead of seeing, what you didn’t do, look at what you did do. 40 points is still good. There are at least 30 quizzers below you (if not more) who didn’t get Nearly what you did and i bet they wish they did. you also reached some areas where the other quizzers couldn’t reach. it was no mistake when i called you “the lady of review.” when the rest of us Forgot review after the weekly divisions in the season, you picked Up the same Exact questions. GO you! Maybe i should pick Up a few pointers from you ;). you also were a big contribution to the team. always quick to Laugh at joke or join in a game (admit it, you Liked playing jell-o in the back of the van coming home from the Invitational!) you were also a big help to me. you helped me with the brackets on both tournaments and when i would ask you questions, you would gladly accept them. so i’m glad to hear you are alread onboard for Next year as well. as you said yourself, it may be easier for you since you are going back to homeschooling (i’m telling you, we’ll turn into one of those sand ridge kids, lol). and i will help anyway next year to make you better. it was my third year when i took off, and the same might be true for you too. my exhortation to keep bringing people into the church showing god’s love to all. be a friend to the friendless and those who are hard to be friends with. in the end, god’s love conquers all. (Chelsea “En fuego” Mullin)

ah, yes, although not consectively, i have quizzed with you for a Total of 3 years on the same team, 4 years at the same church. the 4 years on the same team is longer than any of your siblings. congratulations. I have seen you in Many positions, having your ups and down. This year was full of them. Half the time you were up, the other half you we done. it seemed like you either would quiz out or Error out. yet it was always fun to watch you quiz. it goes back to your two poles. we think you know it and you get it wrong; we think “there is no possible way he’ll get this” and it’s right! my favorite part is watching you contest or rebuddal. you always seem to be able to ENCHANT the quizmaster and judges into thinking you’re right, Especially when it comes to grammar, like the difference between “who” questions and “what questions. lol. still, through trials and tribulations, you finished in 29th with 530 points and 15 quizouts. if i’m not mistaken, that is your best so far. you deserved every point you got, but for the Record, i still got More :-). you’ve been deemed by me a valuable advisory. still, you’re gonna have to try better to show you got the power to beat me. may that alone be a reason to come back for another year. i would like you On the team again. in closing, i have a word for you, just as the deitricks did (and this might be another good reason why I do this without any names). i remember one sunday at the pre-worship, you reminded me of what dave has told me over and over: “pride is death to the Spirit.” truthfully, i was shocked because I wasn’t expecting that from you, nor anyone else on the team but the deitricks. But it was a helpful reminded. hearing it from you told me that you were receiving this word as much as i was. And now that quizzing is over, i send the same word back to you. “pride is death to Spirit.” i want to remind you of this because i want you to know this is true even outside of quizzing. whatever you are doing, pride is still death to the spirit. when you are playing your other favorite sports like baseball, soccer or basketball, pride is still death to the spirit. when you are hanging out with your friends or on a date with your girlfriend, pride is death to the spirit. we live in a culture that tells us it’s best to be number one, to be on top, to be the best and look done on others. but god’s way is different. don’t let your pride kill you, but find your life to be a humble one, unlifting god first, and then unlifting others, even your enemies, with kind words and actions. (Tim “the Enchanter” Moss)
it’s been 4 consective years we’ve been on the same team, which makes you the longest guy quizzer that’s been with Me. congratulations. It’s been an interesting ride. i’ve seen you on the top of your game and on the bottom. this year your season was not as big and bad. you only scored 340 points. that got you to 85th, finishing in the top 100 for the third consective year. actually, that’s pretty much exact same you did last year. but this year is more impressive than last year, i think. you were able to learn the quizzing material while taking physics and Calculus 2 at psu berks (and i remember you telling me that it’s a harder program than usual). Heck, you were even working a full time job and you still could study enough to finish in the same place. A lot of quizzers who are in high school cannot balance their schooling and job, and you had it harder! good job! Errors came Less this year, so many fewer that tim beat you by a lot. Sure you didn’t do so well in the season, but you Completely made up for that in the tournaments. You were a Heckava quizzer as you gave us team bonus and quiz outs. Winning is what you did best. A lot of the time it seemed like you were carrying a third of the team’s burden. Great way to show you Give to this team. Don’t get me wrong it’s not All about points. Wherever there was fun, craizness or trouble, you always seemed to be there. whether it was going back for a pizza run, shoveling snow off from on top of the van, wrestling in the LBC foyer or driving a car barely inspection, you were there. But my favorite memories have some of the answers you Gave. Sometimes it seemed like your Consistent babbling was right, but you ended up wrong. Half the time you looked like you were clueless, or that you didn’t study that part, but you Would pull the answer out of no where And get us the points. my favorite memory is when you would pull your “hat trick.” you would pick a random answer out of your imaginary hat, and it would be the right one! hey, if it works, it works! you’ve been quizzing almost as long as me, and it shows that you also got some “ol’ school quizzing style” in you. The craizness of the quizzers of past Generations will live on because of you. you would be always quick to join in on our team pride. whether it was wearing team shirts, goin’ cowboy, or shaving the head, you were in (although the shaven head was scary. you did look like a white supremeist). i also have a word for you. i remember you did quiz from 2002, when we quizzed on joshua. i Encourage you to go back and read the book. if you look at it closely and thoughly, you’ll see the main message is that god wants to bless his people, but only if they will obey. i believe that applies to today, especially for you. god wants to bless you, but the only way that he will is if you Remember to follow his laws and commands. it’s true that good works don’t save us, but they do give us blessing. so go, avoid sin, but produce fruit of the spirit. and god will bless you. (Michael “Schwagg dawg” Schwager)

Thank you all my teammates for another great year. I also want to once again thank my coaches Dave and Vicki Deitrick for bringing us together and holding us together. We bonded as a team, and in doing so we reached some major accomplishments. In the season we finished 4th place with an average with 97. 4th place is the highest I have ever finished with a team, and the first time my team was seeded in both tournmanets. We are definitely an improving team. We did better this season and we did better in the ACC Tourament than we did in the past 2 years, going undefeated in the ACC Tourament. You guys were all great to have on a team, and I will miss during the offseason. And a friendly reminder to my quizzers that I do exist ouside the months. I am not Baal! I do not die after the secret sponser banquet and then resurrect in January, fully knowledgeable in the Scriptures! lol. Keep in contact. I’d love to hear from you all. And I’m glad you all have made a decision to come back next year. With everyone experienced, we can only get better!

My Spring City homies

I am ready for January. Why? It’s the beginning of quizzing! Ever since quizzing ended with the secret sponser shing-ding-thing, I have only seen one or two quizzers, the most important quizzers, the ones on my team. Those guys are great. I know we said a lot of good things at the secret sponser reveal, but I want to say my own things now. Don’t worry about public embarrassment. I’ll do the same thing as I did last year. You have to guess who I am talking about.

You may have been the little one of the group, but you made a big influence. And even though your score was way different than the rest of the guys, you sure fit in with us. You quickly became one of the guys, with your grunting and moaning. And maybe you didn’t enjoy it, but it was fun to see you as the demonstrated victim of some wrestling moves. And I hope you recovered from the neck whiplash you got on the invitational. I know you had some pressure on you, having two older brothers quiz at one time and having to do up to their par. But 20 points on the season is a good start, and I saw you really hard during the tournaments. Errors may sound bad, but errors are a sign of trying, so you made some good errors (what an oxymoron). The point is you tried. When you guessed, you had some of the best guesses, especially the right guesses. Seriously, who guesses Mesopotamia? I sometimes think you knew more than you think you did. Don’t get too intimidate, remember your brother didn’t do too well his first well, and that intimidated him so much he didn’t quiz the next year. But look where he ended up. It would be great to have you back on the team. Now that the other two guys have girlfriends, I got no one to go ladying with except you. If you come back on the team next year, we’ll go ladying together, and I’ll get you a girl. And even better, I’ll help you with your quizzing. Who knows, maybe next year we can higher than 292nd. Quizzing will be more fun with my right hand man! (Bryan “Lil’ T” Tedor)

In the beginning of the year, I wasn’t too sure if you were really into it. It actually seemed like your dad was more excited to quiz than you were. But that first right answer, those first 10 points, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Do you not realize that without those points, we would have not been in first place that first week?! You came to help us many more times this year in quizzing. You got us team bonus, too! And as you scored more and more points, I could see how much more eager you were to study and get in a match. Sometimes you were just on fire! Just a little better, and you’ll be starting material. That last question of the season, man, that was scary. You buzzed in early on the last question, the one for team bonus. It was so early that no one could guess it. But luckily you remember what we taught you, that Jesus was the all-else-fail answer, and you got it right. 40 points in a season is a good start for a rookie. Who knows what you could next year. If you have a go at it next year, who knows what you’ll do? You could get anything from your first quiz out to reaching triple digits in the points. Maybe even be the 4th seat. It would be a lot of pressure to be needed for team bonus. You would have to score 5 times as many points as you did last year. But with more coaching and more studying, you can do it. You can do anything you put your mind to. All the hard work you did you deserved. (Chelsea “El Fuego” Mullins)

Third team’s the charm, right? I’m gonna be 100% honest with how I felt about you. In the previous offseason, there you were, going around, gloating about how you were going to have your “super team”, fully led and coached by you. To me, all it looked like you were stacking your team, and going anywhere at any cost to get it. I loathed you and wanted to beat you and your team into at a pulp. Then as I watched you go from Reading to Harvest to Zion to Hopewell, and I saw get shot down by every church because they wouldn’t allow your dream team. And I laughed at you. I thought to myself, “Finally, the little punk is getting what he deserves.” But when I heard that you couldn’t get on a team by yourself, almost to the point my mind changed. I didn’t hate you anymore, but pitied you. I hate to see good talent go to waste, and you are great talent. You seemed changed by your actions, and so I knew the perfect team for you to be on. I was so excitedly happy when I heard the Deitricks decided to let you on the team. I’m sure if it was because of the experiences in the other teams, but I saw a change in you. You were no longer that quizzer that wanted to exalt himself through his personal score. You were humble about how you were doing, but more focused on how this team was doing. You were such a benefit to this team, in more than just the 480 points you scored (which were helpful). You got everyone on board with quizzing, whether it be veteran or rookie. You weren’t an enchanter, but more of an encourager. I think that the success of some of the rookies, and even some veterans, could be brought back to you. Not only did you provide encouragement, but you also put time into helping them practice. You took two big steps this year. You stepped up to lead an extra practice, and you stepped down to give a rookie quizzer a chance to get team bonus when we needed it. You showed coach-like qualities as still a quizzer. I can almost say I was envious of that. I wish I could motivate and help quizzers like you could. I understand you’re dissappointed that our team didn’t win any bling trophies, because that’s what you were aimining. But look at what you did get. You finished 35th place on the top 60 quizzers list, and you won Spring City’s first (and maybe only) Barnabas award. I know that they’re only individual awards, one recognized by the league, the other only by a church, and that you really want your team to be recognized league wide by a trophy, but remember that the Lord has given you what you deserve, so accept those awards as part as His blessings to you. I pray that one day the Lord will recognize you through your team by giving your team an award. Lastly, I want to say that it was personally a blessing to me to have you on this team. As a said above, I started out this year with hard feelings towards you. By the end of the year, I felt at peace with you, and our relationship reconciled and restored. We were no longer arch rivals, but rather competitive teammates, which I enjoyed. I consider you a friend and a brother that I never had. I hope you see the same in me. (Tim “the encourager” Moss)

I guess the best way to start this is: uuuaaauyghhh. Not even sure that’s how it’s spelled, if it can be spelled. You’re a man of many sound effects. So what you didn’t finish as the top 60 like you did last year, you did finish in the top 100 (86th place to be exact). You did have the honor of being 1 of the 3 guys to be perfect quizzers for Spring City the first week. You performance was unpredictable as always, especially with your normal stupid answers, but you pulled through as usual. Sometimes you did scare us when you answered, like when you finished your answer at 28.5 seconds. Even though you had to take your annual baseball trip, you still performed pretty well. You also were able to grow out of your old title, “Mayor of Errorville.” That is so good to see you error less, a definite improvement. Don’t worry, I find a better one for next year. Truthfully, if you would have been there, I think you would have been in the top 60. But you’re a lot of fun outside of a quizmatch, too. It was fun seeing you on that cart, especially on the snow. I still think some of my favorite memories of you are when we go ladying. Let’s see, this year was the Argentinian and girl from Reading who thought you were cute. You had me fooled with the second one, when you actually thought you got one, but that didn’t work out. I think that was it for this year. Well, you did finally find out what she (you know who) said about you, and we still didn’t find Jojo, but it was all good. I guess next year will be different, then. I’ll have to go ladying alone. But in these past 3 years, I have gotten to get to known you (or at least who I think you are) and have enjoyed you. I truly like you for who you are. So my advice for you: Don’t change. I seriously mean it. Indubiately. (Michael “Mayor of Errorville” Schwager)

Wow. 6 whole years, two teams, and we were still together. I find that awesome. We’ve been through a lot together, but no matter what happened, we pulled out together. Thanks for everything you’ve done for me in this friendship. You got me out there a lot of times where I didn’t want to be. I wanted to stay inside and practice, you pushed me outside during break time. You were able to talk to me and I to you without any barriers of any sort. I also found it helpful to eat with you so I didn’t feel out of place with the little amount of food I ate. Thank you for sitting with me on the bus for all the Invitational trips, even though you kicked me out a few times. It may have been disappointing to only score 120 points this year compared to the 155 you scored last year, but if we added points for all the times we got team bonus, your score would be much more than that. I was 100% honest when I said you were the most dependable person for team bonus. It is so true. Because of that, I think you would be the most desireable quizzer that scores under 200 points. Any quiz team would want somebody that could get team bonus, despite few points. I also found it ironic how you were the team’s top errorer at the end of week 1! We only had 2 errors, and they were both yours! It is a true sign you were a part of Spring City. I’m sorry we couldn’t end your last year with a bang. That last match of the invitational, don’t blame yourself for that. I am just as responsible. You did great these past two years. And I feel that possibly you may have also found a calm in these past 3 years compared to the calamity the 3 years before that. It was great to see you smile even though you may not want to for good reasons. It has been a honor to be with you on the same team for my whole career of quizzing. Thank you for six great years. (Christine “Money in da Bank” Dragan)

Thank you everyone on Spring City 2007. I hope you guys have realized the great accomplishments we acheived. We were on the top of League A for two straight weeks, and one of those weeks, we were the number one of all the ACC teams. We had three perfect quizzers for the first week of quizzing. We scored 1680 points, averaging 99 points. We finished in 5th place in our league, 8th place of all ACC in the season. We were undefeated in our group for the ACC Tournament and brought Spring City to the playoffs for the third time in the past four years. Spring City finished in 9th place in the invitational with four other teams. Our win-loss record of the season was 14-3, the ACC Tournament 6-0 in our group (6-1 with the 1 loss in the playoffs), and the invitational 5-2, totalling a 25-6 win-loss record. While the 2005 Spring City was better in the ACC Tournament, 2007 Spring City did better in both the season and the invitational. But forget about performance, Spring City was great is so many other ways. We came together as a time. We helped each other in studying as much as our coaches did. We sacrificed personal for the team. We were there for each other. This has got to be my favorite year of all quizzing. We were truly a team, we performed to the best of our ability and did well, and had fun doing it. God bless everyone on the team. Now with 3 months until the first quiz match of next year, I look foward to seeing everyone again.
